in eLearning 


            As technology continues to grow as an integral part of education, it is vital to harness the power of instructional design in eLearning environments. Simply put, instructional design is the creation of instructional materials. Instructional design in education is the process of creating, developing, and delivering learning experiences. It involves analyzing learning needs and goals that best fit the unique needs of your students. It is a multifaceted field that combines principles from psychology, education, and technology to create learning experiences that are engaging, meaningful, and impactful (Das, 2023). Instructional design also considers how students learn and what materials and methods will most effectively help individuals achieve their academic goals. 



eLearning Videos

    E-learning videos help educators take their courses to the next level. E-learning videos can help enhance the overall learning experience, giving a deeper explanation for certain concepts or providing students with easy-to-follow visuals that are simply not communicated as well by text. Videos also strike a deep connection with viewers and can evoke an emotional response. Even for e-learning, having video visuals can resonate with the viewer and make the content more memorable. Done correctly, videos can make information easy to explain in a short amount of time (‌Ferriman, 2020). eLearning videos grab the attention of students and provide them with an engaging visual learning experience as opposed to simply reading a text or listening to an audio. One of the most significant benefits of using eLearning videos is that they cater to a wide variety of learning needs. Not to mention that it can be used to convey virtually any type of subject matter, as they transfer knowledge in an appealing and engaging way, they can reduce eLearning seat time and they can be really fun (Pappas, 2015).





SCORM Standards
    

        SCORM (Shareable Content Object Reference Model) is a technical specification for eLearning software products. It standardizes the way in which eLearning courses are created, and how they're launched. Learning management systems (LMS) and authoring tools are built with this specification in mind and as a result, these tools work well with each other. SCORM is the most commonly used content standard in eLearning. Since it was released 16 years ago, the SCORM specification has worked to standardize learning content (Anderson, 2016). This framework allows for a variety of formats to successfully operate across different LMS platforms. These standards are important for creating successful eLearning environments where learners are able to navigate through their learning experiences efficiently.


         In conclusion, when creating an eLearning environment with learning content, it is crucial to always consider the SCORM standards as well as your instructional design approach. When both are executed effectively, the result will yield meaningful and successful eLearning experiences for your students. The following are some reasons why the power of design is so  vital:

  1. Engagement

Learning experiences that engage learners are created by Instructional Designers using interactive content, gamification, multimedia features, and real-world scenarios. This involvement is critical for keeping learners interested and motivated.

  1. Adaptability

To meet the varying needs of learners, Instructional Designers can use a variety of instructional methodologies and materials.

  1. Effective learning

The methodical methodology of Instructional Design guarantees that learning objectives are clearly established and connected with the material and assessments. As a result, learning outcomes are more effective.

  1. Consistency

Instructional Design guarantees that all learners receive the same quality of education or training, independent of place or time.

  1. Data-driven improvement

Data on learner performance can be collected through Instructional Design, allowing for continual improvement based on analytics and feedback.
